Alliance strengthens representation across text, audio, and publishing sectors
Pasadena, CA - The Dataset Providers Alliance (DPA) today announced the addition of five new members, strengthening its position as a leading voice in AI data licensing. This expansion follows the DPA's recent advocacy efforts with legislators, demonstrating that a thriving data licensing market exists between AI developers and content creators.
The new members include:
Created by Humans, an AI Rights licensing platform connecting authors with AI developers, endorsed by the Authors Guild and founded by Scribd founder Trip Adler
Pro Sound Effects (PSE), an industry leader providing the world's largest library of professionally recorded sound, collaborating with award-winning artists like Mark Mangini (Dune) and Richard King (Oppenheimer)
Dappier, a marketplace enabling media brands to build AI-ready data models and providing real-time content licensing through their marketplace and RAG APIs
Sound Ideas, a pioneering sound effects company offering over 1,000,000 sound effects and production elements.
Cool Pursuits, a specialized broker led by former Pond5 audio executive Mike Pace, facilitating media licensing opportunities for ethical dataset licensing in AI, synchronization, distribution, and acquisition
These new members represent a significant expansion of our alliance, bringing expertise from across multiple data modalities," said Alex Bestall, CEO of Rightsify and founding member of the DPA. "Their addition strengthens our ability to advocate for market-driven solutions in AI data licensing."
"Joining the DPA aligns perfectly with our mission to bridge the gap between creators and AI development," said Trip Adler, co-founder and CEO of Created by Humans. "We believe that a well-functioning licensing marketplace is crucial for both protecting creators' rights and advancing AI innovation."
The DPA recently released its comprehensive Data Licensing Position Paper in September, outlining key stances on licensing, opt-ins, synthetic data, and the importance of a free market, direct licensing approach over government-mandated collective licensing.
"As leaders in professional sound effects, we recognize the transformative potential of AI and are working to ensure the best interests of our own artists and recordists," said Douglas Price, CEO of Pro Sound Effects. "At this critical moment in AI history, The DPA provides a unified voice for establishing ethical standards in AI data licensing that benefit the entire creative community."
The addition of these members significantly expands the DPA's representation across the content ecosystem, from text and publishing to audio and multimedia. This growth reinforces the alliance's mission to foster an environment where both AI innovation and creator rights can thrive through market-driven solutions.
